Review - Wild by Cheryl Strayed

I had a hard time getting into this book and I think reading the reviews, specially the bad ones, was a mistake, because it made me dread the read instead of getting excited about it.
The only way I was able to continue reading was when I thought of the story as a novel (fiction) and not as a real life event. The fact that the book was turned into a movie helped my imagination because I was able to see Cheryl as Reese Witherspoon in my head as I read along.
Still, it was hard at the beginning to get into the book because she talked about the family drama that led her to take on the PCT(Pacific Crest Trail) but I was only interested by her experience on the PCT and all the struggles and wonders of hiking alone. So until she got to the PCT, I was not enjoying the book but once she was there, it was fun following her adventure.

My Thoughts On - All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I love this book so much I hate it. I love how it made me laugh at the beginning, how it made me grin like an idiot in the bus. I love how genuine the relationship between Theodore and Violet was , how wonderful for these two souls to find each other, to comfort each other. But I hate it too. I hate it for the endless tears I shed,  for making me love Theodore and then putting me face to face with the unchanging reality. I hate it for giving me no place to hope for a different ending. I felt loss, anger and despair. I knew no matter how much I read and went further into the story, Theodore's faith was unchanging and there is nothing I could do to shake off the sense of helplessness that came over me. I hated this book so much I love it.

All the bright places is real, raw, epic and a must read.

Review - The Martian by Andy Weir

Crown Publishers | 289 pages | 2014

I picked up this ebook because I heard so many good things about the movie (Matt Damon is staring in it, so it must be good) and the book won the Goodreads best Si-Fi novel in 2014. You can't go wrong with that.
